LA CONNER VIEWS 030aIf you haven’t been to La Conner recently, you’re probably missing out on the new boardwalk running the length of the town, from Calico Cupboard to the Limedock Building, home of Hellam’s Vineyards.

While La Conner was already a destination for leisurely walks through this quaint town, the boardwalk doubles the walkability factor, and does it with sunshine! Now you can walk along the boardwalk in the sun with a great view of the Channel, and then walk on the sunny side of First Street on the way back.  We’ve even been known to go a couple laps around the town before settling in one of our favorite spots for a cocktail or food (see Don’s Where to Eat Guide)!20150523_140508

It’s quite nice to walk by friends and neighbors dining or just having a drink out on one of the boardwalk patios.  It also entices you into those establishments – and that’s not a bad thing.

We also recently met a few friends from the La Conner Retirement Center who love walking on the new boardwalk.  It’s a pleasure to see them enjoying the day (we run into two friends in particular who enjoy their glass of wine at Hellam’s Vineyards dock when they are done – and they are 88 and 94 years old!)

Our friends over at Over Skagit created this video of the boardwalk dedication ceremony, and we were there!  Can you spot us?

More expansion is coming, with the boardwalk extending under the Rainbow Bridge.  Come join us for a walk!
